WEST HAVEN, Conn. –
The University of New Haven football team scored a season-high seven touchdowns to maintain its unbeaten Northeast-10 Conference record with a 49-21 win over the Saint Anselm Hawks on Senior Day at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium. The victory for New Haven sets up a winner-take-all NE10 match-up with the LIU Post Pioneers on Saturday, November 10. The game will determine the 2018 NE10 Champion as both teams will enter with an unbeaten record in conference play at 8-0.

Leading the Chargers on the afternoon was sophomore running back Nyhsere Woodson (Trenton, N.J./Pennington) who finished with a career-high 119 yards on the ground with a pair of touchdowns. Overall, New Haven gained nearly 300 yards on 46 attempts in the running game, all accounting for 294 total yards. Woodson's 119 represented the only player to surpass the century mark as senior quarterback Ajee Patterson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) followed him with 85 yards on five carries. More than half of Woodson's yards came on his touchdown run as he galloped 58 yards for the second longest touchdown run of the season for a new haven running back.

Patterson closed out his day under center, connecting on 14 of his 22 pass attempts for 185 yards, inching closer to the all-time school record which he now needs 347 yards to attain. Four of the touchdowns on the afternoon came in the passing game for Patterson as he connected with graduate receiver Joe Caico (Hopedale, Mass./Worcester) for a pair of scores while adding one each to senior tight end Jonathan Badyna (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) and junior running back Chris Liggio (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross). Among all six New Haven receivers who were targeted on the day, Badyna led the team with 81 yards on five catches as he earned Connecticut National Guard Player of the Game accolades.

Defensively, New Haven was led by sophomore Mcprecia Remy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millwood) who finished with eight tackles, while as a team, the Chargers combined for eight tackles for loss, four of which were sacks. The four sacks, two of which came from senior Markel Johnson (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln), was a season high for the Blue and Gold, while all combined the four sacks led to 28 yards tagged to Saint Anselm's quarterback Eric Fairweather. Joining Remy in lead the New Haven defense was Jordan Francklin (Queens, N.Y./Holy Cross) who chipped in seven tackles, five of which were solo stops.

The regular season finale for the Chargers is slated for a noon kickoff against the Pioneers at Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Brookeville, N.Y. Following that match-up, New Haven and LIU Post will both await to see if each will earn one of seven spots in the East Region for the 2018 NCAA Division II Football Championship, with first round competition slated for November 17 at campus sites.
