SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 14 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team dropped its longest Northeast-10 road trip of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling at Le Moyne 20-4. Leading the Chargers on the day was senior attack Jessica Mazliah (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) who had a hand in all four of the Blue and Gold's goals, scoring twice and assisting on the other two.
Joining Mazliah in netting a tally for the Chargers was junior Mackenzie Reh (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) and freshman Emily Holland (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) who each scored one goal. Reh also added an assist for two points on the afternoon contest. Sophomores Gianna Guerra (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) and Erica Rinsky (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) split time in goal for New Haven with Guerra leading the duo with a career-high 15 saves. Rinsky added five saves, while combined the pair faced a total of 37 shots from the Dolphins.
The Dolphins opened up the scoring within the first minute of action and scored the game's first seven goals before New Haven broke up the shutout with just under nine minutes remaining. Reh picked up the Chargers first goal of the afternoon, working off an assist from Mazliah.
New Haven added two more goals before the end of the opening half with Mazliah on the scoring end of each of those tallies. The first of those came on a free position attempt just inside the five minute mark while the senior attack connected with Reh for the final Charger goal of the opening half with 2:14 remaining before the break.
The Blue and Gold added their only score in the second half as the first of the period for either team, scoring just 64 seconds into the action. Mazliah picked up her final point of the game when she dished to Holland for a man-up goal.
The Chargers will return to West Haven for the first time in 11 days when they close out the month of March with a non-conference date against the Molloy College Lions on Saturday. Opening draw at Kathy Zolad Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
