Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Blanked Versus Adelphi on Wednesday

WEST HAVEN, Conn. -  The University of New Haven field hockey team continued Northeast-10 action at DellaCamera Stadium, falling to the Adelphi Panthers, 6-0 on Wednesday.

The Chargers tallied six shots on the night with five on target, led by freshman Rebecca Collentine (New Milford, Conn./New Milford) who posted three total shots with two on goal. Freshman Julia Battino (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) and junior Ashley Higgins (North Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy) also had one shot on goal each.

In goal, sophomore Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) made 13 saves, matching her season high set against Assumption on September 18. The Chargers tallied four penalty corners on the night with two coming in each half.

New Haven had possession early with the game's first penalty corner, when freshman Alexis Rider's (Delran, N.J./Delran) shot was saved by Adelphi's Leah Savage. Collentine was able to get a shot off on the same possession before New Haven had another chance on a penalty corner.

Adelphi went on to score four-straight goals throughout the remainder of the first half, and added two more goals in the second half to cap the score at 6-0.

The Chargers return for a tough test on homecoming weekend, as the No. 6 ranked Merrimack Warriors will visit West Haven on September 29. Game time at DellaCamera is slated for 7:00 pm. For fans who are unable to attend, live stats and video will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
