Saint Rose Overpowers Women's Soccer on Homecoming Weekend

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team continued action on Saturday evening at Kathy Zolad Stadium, dropping an NE10 contest to the Golden Knights, 5-0.
 
Leading the Chargers on the offensive end was sophomore Samantha Roth (Hicksville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and senior Josette Breeden (Vacaville, Calif./Vanden) who had one shot on goal each. Senior Marisa Pacapelli (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) and freshman Danielle DesRuisseaux (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Brady) also had one look at the net. In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) recorded two saves.
 
Saint Rose struck in just the eighth minute of action and took command for the remainder of the first half, netting five goals in the first 40 minutes of play. The Charger defense kept the Golden Knights in check, shutting out Saint Rose throughout the entire of the second half.  
 
New Haven looks to rebound on Tuesday, October 2 for a conference match against Stonehill. Kickoff against the Skyhawks is slated for 7:00 pm at W.B. Mason Stadium. For fans who are unable to attend, live stats and video will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
