THE LEAD
Winners of its last two and six of its last seven, the New Haven volleyball team returns to action with a Friday night match at Franklin Pierce. The Ravens enter the match looking to snap a four-match skid with three of those four coming in NE10 play.

SERIES HISTORY VS FRANKLIN PIERCE
In a series that dates back to 1989, the Chargers hold a commanding 25-2 lead in the all-time series against the Ravens. New Haven enters the Friday night battle looking to extend a five-match win streak against Franklin Pierce with the last Ravens win coming early in the 2015 season, the first of two meetings against FPU that season. In the current five-match win streak, New Haven has surrendered just two sets total against the Ravens.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
New Haven returned to conference play with a four-set win over Pace last week which ended a five-match home stand for the Blue and Gold. For the season, junior Kali Greathead (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) leads the Chargers with 159 kills including a high for all players this season with 21 against Mercy. She is joined in triple digits by sophomore Ruby Fera (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) (155 kills), senior Mallory Nowicki (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) (151 kills) and junior Camille Garden (Atlanta, Ga./Landmark Christian) (123 kills). Of the leading hitters Garden leads the way with a .244 attack percentage while she also adds a team-high 50 blocks, third most in the NE10. The Chargers utilize a 6-2 rotation at the setter position with junior Angela Chan (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) (395 assists) and freshman Sammie Paguia (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) (196 assists) splitting the workload. Defensively, New Haven has relied on rookie libero Julia Guarniere (Milford, N.H./Milford) to do the majority of the work, racking up 301 digs, while Nowicki follows Garden in the blocking efforts with 32 total returns.

SCOUTING THE RAVENS
Losers of their last four, the Ravens look for their second conference win with their only victory in conference play coming in the NE10 opener against Saint Michael's. For the season, Franklin Pierce is led by freshman middle hitter Ingrid Lindstrom who is one of three players in triple digits with 151 kills. She also sports a team-high .355 attack percentage and leads the team with 48 total blocks. Joining her in leading the offense is senior middle Abigail Garnhart and freshman outside hitter Tessa Brandt who add 137 and 124 kills, respectively. Defensively, junior libero Ellie Ivanova has taken most of the load, racking up 257 digs.

UP NEXT
New Haven returns home for its next two matches, opening up with a visit from the Adelphi Panthers in a match that pits two of the NE10's perennial power programs. First serve against the Panthers is slated for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23 at Charger Gym.
