WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The New Haven field hockey team dropped a tough 2-0 decision to ninth ranked Southern New Hampshire at Ralph DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday. Prior to the contest, the team recognized
Ashley Higgins (North Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy), its lone senior in the class of 2019.
The Penmen put 21 shots towards goal in the game, forcing Charger goaltender
Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) to make 10 saves. New Haven sophomore Taylor Geagalone had two shots on goal on the offensive end, and came away with a defensive save in the second quarter.
The Penmen got on the board in the latter stages of the first half with a 24th minute, unassisted tally from Meaghan Wile. SNHU then added an insurance goal in the 37th minute with Wile finding the back of the net for the second time, also unassisted.
With three games remaining in the regular season, New Haven will continue its quest to earn a bid to the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship Tournament with their next contest on Wednesday at Stonehill.
