Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) scored twice and sophomore
Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) had a goal and an assist as the New Haven women's soccer team powered their way past Le Moyne 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. The five goals matches the Chargers' season-high. The two teams combined for six second half goals, all coming in bunches including a stretch of three goals in 2:32, and three additional goals all within 1:36 of each other midway through the second half.

Tana Tufts (Hudson, N.H./Alvirne) added a goal and an assist for the Chargers, junior
Samantha Roth (Hicksville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) scored her fourth goal of the year, and sophomore
Kaitlyn Price (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity Regional) and senior
Megan Georges (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) each tallied one assist. Senior
Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) made six saves in goal for the Chargers.
The win moves New Haven to 4-8-1 overall (3-6-0 NE10), while Le Moyne falls to 1-10-1 (0-8-1 NE10).
New Haven scored the only goal of the opening half in the 26th minute when Price played a corner kick into the box which was knocked in by Myers for her third goal of the season.
The Chargers padded their lead early in the second half with an insurance goal as Myers found Tufts for the 2-0 advantage. However, the celebration was short lived as Le Moyne quickly responded exactly two minutes later with their first goal to get back within one.
Roth provided a swift answer for New Haven, scoring unassisted just 32 seconds later, making it three goals on three shots combined in 2:32 between the two teams, putting New Haven up 3-1.
Once again, the Dolphins climbed back to within one goal with a 71st minute tally to make it 3-2. The Chargers quickly got the goal right back off the restart as Peduzzi collected her first goal of the match just 19 seconds later to get the lead back to 4-2.
The Chargers were not done as Peduzzi struck for the second time just 1:17 later for her team-leading seventh goal of the season, taking an assist from Myers. Peduzzi nearly completed a natural hat trick just over 30 seconds later in the 73rd minute, but her shot sailed just over the top of the bar.
The Chargers will stay close to home for their next match on Tuesday evening as they travel to take on crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
