Myers Touches in Fourth Goal of the Year as Charger Fall to AIC

West Haven, Conn.- Two second half goals erased a first half lead for New Haven as the Chargers dropped a 2-1 decision against the visiting American International Yellow Jackets. Sophomore Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) scored her fourth goal of the season in the first half to give the Chargers the early lead.

Goalkeeper Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) shut the Yellow Jackets out in the first half, recording six saves in the first 45 minutes. Her offense took the lead late in the first half when in the 32nd minute Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) crossed to Myers, to tally the first goal of the game and break up the scoreless draw.

American International collected a total of ten shots in the first half, six on goal. The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the 60th minute with Jocylyn Deome touching in her second goal of the season. The Chargers kept attacking American International, taking seven shots in the second half.

New Haven had a scoring opportunity late in the second half when Peduzzi crossed to Maaike Rahms (Waddinxveen, Netherlands) who hit the top of the crossbar. American International would go on to take the lead in the 73rd minute. The Chargers offense continued to push to tie the game, but could not find the back of the net.

The Chargers will close out their regular season schedule on Wednesday afternoon when they host Assumption College. Opening kickoff against the Greyhounds is set for 4:00 p.m. with the New Haven SAAC hosting Trunk or Treat during the contest.
