WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The New Haven field hockey team fell 6-0 at perennial power West Chester on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The second-ranked team in the nation, the Golden Rams took 32 shots in the game, 21 of which went on goal, and drew 14 penalty corners.
West Chester (9-0) scored two first half goals, both coming in the first quarter in the fourth and 10th minutes. New Haven (4-7) goaltender
Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) made two of her 14 saves on the day in the second quarter, keeping West Chester off the board.
West Chester opened it up with three quick goals in the third quarter to take a 5-0 lead. The trio of tallies all came within the first seven minutes of the period, including two in a 19-second span.
The Rams added one more goal in the 58th minute to polish off the 6-0 victory.
Next up, New Haven will welcome No. 8 Assumption to DellaCamera Stadium this Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.
