WORCESTER, Mass. – A three set victory by freshman
Alexa Orlando (Frederick, Md./Middletown) helped lift women's tennis to a 4-3 decision over Assumption College Wednesday evening.
Orlando closed a grueling seven-hour match in Worchester, Mass. with a 7-4, 5-7, 7-6 victory that ended in a 7-4 tie-break. The win is her seventh in ten matches and lifts the Chargers to a 6-4 record overall (5-4 NE10).
Junior
Lilia Rodriguez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista) took her singles match 7-5, 6-4 as she improved to 5-5 on the season, followed by sophomore
Nicole Mika (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs) who moves to 5-4 in singles play, winning her match in straight set 6-2, 6-3 in the number three spot.
Freshman
Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) continued to excel on the season, racking up her eighth win in ten matches with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at fourth singles.
The Chargers will return to the New Haven Tennis Courts for their next match Saturday, when they host Southern New Hampshire University at 12:00 p.m.
