NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four players finished in double figures as the New Haven volleyball team dropped a five set decision to crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday night at Pelz Gymnasium. Leading all Charger hitters was sophomore
Ruby Fera (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) who collected 14 kills and a team-high .231 attack percentage.
Joining Fera in leading the offense was senior
Mallory Nowicki (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) with 13 kills and junior
Kali Greathead (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) and freshman
Emily Barry (Freeport, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) who each finished with 11 kills. Overall, New Haven combined for 55 kills on the night with a team hitting average of .144 (23 errors, 222 attempts).

Angela Chan (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) and freshman
Sammie Paguia (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) split the responsibility of running the offense nearly 50-50 with Chan leading the way with 23 assists and Paguia adding 21. Freshman libero
Julia Guarniere (Milford, N.H./Milford) added six assists as the Chargers finished with 52 total assists, registering one in all but three of the 55 total kills.
Defensively, five different players registered double figures with the rookie libero Guarniere leading the way with a career-high 32 digs. Fera, Greathead, Paguia and Chan all joined her in double figures with all four completing the double doubles. Fera followed Guarniere in leading the way with 24 digs while Greathead also put up 20+, finishing with 21 total. Chan and Paguia wrapped up the defense with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
New Haven returns to the friendly confines of Charger Gymnasium to close out its regular season home scheduled with matches against Stonehill and Assumption. First on the docket will be a visit from the Skyhawks on Saturday, November 9 with opening serve set for 1:00 p.m. The match will also serve as senior day as prior to the match, the Blue and Gold will honor their lone senior
