Richwine Joins Chargers as Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Director of Athletics and Recreation Sheahon Zenger announced the addition of Sara Richwine who will join the Chargers senior leadership as the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services. Richwine comes to New Haven from Bridgeport where she served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

Prior to joining the Purple Knights in March of 2016, Richwine, who has experience at both Division I and Division II, was an Athletic Compliance Assistant at Central Connecticut State University while she also has experience as an Athletic Compliance Volunteer at Lehigh University.

"We're excited to welcome Sara to Charger Nation," said Zenger. "Her experience at multiple levels of the NCAA and her law background fits perfectly as we look to bring Charger athletics to the next level on the fields and courts as well as in the classroom and community. I believe that Sara will be an outstanding advocate for our students and will greatly enhance the student-athlete experience."

At Bridgeport, Richwine was responsible for monitoring all recruiting, admission, eligibility and financial aid compliance for both NCAA and East Coast Conference regulations. In addition, she monitored and evaluated continuing eligibility for all student-athletes, tracked CARA hours and coordinated all National Letters of Intent. On top of her compliance responsibilities, Richwine also served at the sport supervisor for women's soccer, women's gymnastics and baseball.

A 2009 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Sara graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Political Science. At Muhlenberg, she was a member of the women's lacrosse and cross country teams, where she earned a spot on the Centennial Conference All-Academic Honor Roll two years in a row. 

After completing her undergraduate degree, Richwine attended Quinnipiac University School of Law, graduating in 2012 and is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. Prior to her career in collegiate athletics, she practiced civil litigation in Connecticut, most recently at the New Haven Regional Children's Probate Court where she represented children and their legal rights in custody and guardianship cases.

Richwine resides in New Haven, Connecticut with her husband Pat, son Jack and their dog Ghost.
