WEST HAVEN, Conn. – A strong second half for the New Haven women's basketball team helped the Chargers to a season-high in points in a 69-48 win over Saint Rose on Saturday. The top scoring defense in the Northeast-10, New Haven once again held its opponent to under 50 points for the fifth time this season. New Haven now sits a 6-1 (3-1 NE10) for the first time since the 2014-15 season, and extended its home court winning streak to nine games. The Chargers finished the game shooting 42.6 percent overall and out-rebounded the Golden Knights (3-5, 0-4 NE10) 36-27. New Haven also outscored Saint Rose 32-10 in the paint, received 22 points from the bench, and went 20-for-22 from the free throw line.

FIRST QUARTER
- Wormack connected on a pair of free throws, then promptly picked off a pass on the defensive end and raced down the floor for the unassisted layup in transition to build the Charger lead to 11-3 at the 5:36 mark, forcing a Saint Rose timeout.
- The lead grew to as much as nine (14-5) following a Deshaies basket at 2:51, and the Chargers led 16-11 after one.
SECOND QUARTER
- Chambers grabbed a steal deep in her own corner, started a breakout and fed White for a layup at the 5:29 mark to grow the lead to double digits for the first time, 22-12, forcing a Saint Rose timeout.
- The lead grew to 12 on three occasions over the final three minutes, before White knocked down a jumper and DeBose added a free throw one minute later to grow the lead to a half-high 13 points with 31 seconds remaining.
- The Knights used a layup with 16 seconds left, making the score 31-20 going into the locker room.
New Haven shot 40.7 percent in the opening half and limited Saint Rose to 7-for-21 and just 1-for-8 from beyond the arc.
THIRD QUARTER
- DeBose hit a layup and the ensuing free throw after a foul to complete a three-point play and give New Haven a 39-28 lead at the 6:34 mark.
- After the Golden Knights cut it back to 39-30, the Chargers ran off seven unanswered points as part of a larger 10-2 run to take a 46-30 lead with 3:36 on the clock.
- Wormack found White for a layup to grow the lead to 16 for the first time with 1:07 remaining and New Haven led 50-38 entering the fourth.
FOURTH QUARTER
- New Haven shot 6-for-12 over the final 10 minutes, paced by seven points from Wormack and five from King.
- The Chargers used an 8-0 run in the middle of the frame to grow the lead to 20 for the first time, capped by the first career basket for King, coming from downtown in the left corner. King later took a feed in the paint and knocked home a jumper to help the Chargers score 10 of the game's final 14 points.
The Chargers will play six of their next seven games on the road, beginning on Tuesday night with a conference matchup at American International starting at 5:30 p.m.
