GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The University of New Haven women's basketball team came up on the short end of a 62-53 final at Adelphi on Saturday afternoon. Senior Alexandria Kerr (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) led the way for New Haven with 14 points, while adding six rebounds on 5-of-9 shooting. Junior Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) added 12 points and team-highs of seven rebounds and two blocks. Freshman Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) also reached double figures with 20 points a game-high three steals.
New Haven committed 11 turnovers, tying their season-low which they set in their previous matchup with Adelphi back in November. Adelphi shot 42.4 percent from the field, while limiting New Haven (11-12, 8-8 NE10) to 37.9 percent overall. The Panthers (11-12, 8-8 NE10) also outrebounded the Chargers 37-36.
"I thought we did a lot of good things," said head coach Deborah Buff. "In the second half, we got the ball inside where we wanted to and just didn't knock them down. Those are shots you have to make in a tight game. I thought we had a great run in the third quarter to get us back in it, so we fought to the end. We just have to learn from this finish those in the next game."

· The Panthers used a three to get the lead up to nine for the first time, but Ocasio answered by driving the lane and getting the layup to fall to make it 26-19.
· An 8-3 run for the Chargers got the team within 29-26 with 1:46 left after Oge and Kerr tallied layups, and Oge added one from the line to trim the deficit down to three.

· The Chargers responded with their own 5-0 run when Kerr found Kim Talley (Quakertown, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) running down the lane for a layup, who converted an and-one score to get it back to an eight-point deficit at the 5:33 mark.
· After the Panthers got the lead back to 10, Oge then spun to her left for a short jumper in the lane off the Luzdali Ocasio (Davenport, Fla./New Hampton) assist to make it 45-37, sparking a 7-0 run to end the frame for the Chargers.
· DeBose followed with a pair of crucial plays for New Haven, first hitting a three with 35 seconds remaining, then picking off a pass on the sideline and taking it to the rim for the transition bucket to close the gap to 45-42 at the end of the three quarters.
FOURTH QUARTER
· Adelphi scored five of the first seven points of the quarter. The Chargers clawed back to within four when Talley fed Wormack with a shovel pass into the lane for two, making it 50-46.
· The Chargers then hit a cold spell from the floor, missing six field goals in a row as part of a 1-for-8 stretch and going nearly four minutes without a point until Katia Oge (New City, N.Y./Immaculate Heart Academy) hit a free throw, then added two more off a Kerr dish off a missed free throw to get it within 56-49 with 3:08 to play.
· Adelphi's Leonie Edringer connected with a foul line jumper line with 1:38 left to get the lead back to double digits at 60-49.
· Kerr added two free throws and DeBose got another layup in transition following steal at midcourt with 25 seconds left to get New Haven within seven, but that was as close as the Chargers would get as the Panthers iced the game away with a pair of free throws for the 62-53 final.
