Reh Ties Program Records as No. 17/18 Women's Lacrosse Downs No. 16 Merrimack, 20-15

WEST HAVEN, Conn.- Mackenzie Reh (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) tied her career-high and program record of nine goals to help No. 17/18 women's lacrosse take down No. 16 Merrimack, 20-15, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. Reh added two assists to finish the game with 11 points, also tying the program record of points in a game.

Behind Reh was Caroline Maher (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) who had four goals and one assist. Kendra Nolan (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Julia Jette (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) each had two goals, while Samantha Galler (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield), Raven Linton (Lawrenceville, N.J./Notre Dame) and Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connequot) all scored once. Jette also had four assists to finish with six points.

Gianna Guerra (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) recorded her fifth win of the season in goal. She had nine saves for a .375 save percentage. The Chargers collected a majority of the draw controls winning 21-17. Linton led the way with nine, Nolan had seven and Reh had five. New Haven had eight caused turnovers on the day, as Marie Cox (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) had two, while six different Chargers each had one.

Reh got the Chargers on the board within the first two minutes, but Merrimack was quick to respond to tie the game at one all. Reh connected with Maher who found the back of the net to regain the lead. The one goal lead did not last long as the Warriors countered with one of their own to tie the game again. The Chargers would regain the lead as Galler found the back of the net followed by Reh's second, a free position goal. Despite the efforts of Merrimack, the Chargers would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.

The scoring went back and forth for the remainder of the first half. Merrimack was able to capitalize on a free position attempt to get within one. The Chargers countered as Reh and Nolan would score next, both assisted from Jette, to increase the lead to three. The Warriors climbed within two with 10 and half minutes of the half. Jette scored followed by a quick Merrimack goal to keep the lead at two. Reh scored the final two goals of the first half for the Chargers, who had a 9-6 lead at halftime.

The Warriors scored quickly out of the break and once again got within two, but the Chargers responded with a 5-0 run to create some separation and take a seven-goal lead. Linton started the Chargers' second half scoring as she drove straight to the net after collecting the draw control. Reh scored the next three of four goals, and Maher netted her second of the game.

Merrimack broke through the tough New Haven defense with a 2-0 run. The Chargers had an answer for Merrimack as Maher and Reh each scored again. Merrimack scored twice in a row to cut New Haven's lead to five. The scoring went back and forth again, but the Chargers never let Merrimack get closer than two goals.

Jette found the back of the net for her second goal of the day with just under seven minutes left in the game. With just about three and half minutes left to play, Merrimack scored to once again to get within four. The defense played strong to keep the Warriors from getting any closer to tying the game. Skelly would close out the scoring, finding the back of the net with 51 seconds left.

New Haven will return to Kathy Zolad Stadium on Wednesday, March 27 to take on defending National Champions, No. 1 Le Moyne. Opening draw of the NE10 matchup is set for 4:00 pm.
