No. 19 Women's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 16 Pace, 13-9

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 19 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team took down No. 16 Pace, 13-9, in a Northeast-10 matchup at Pace Stadium on Tuesday evening. Mackenzie Reh (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) led the way for the Chargers, closing out the game with five points behind three goals and two assists.

Reh was one of seven different Chargers who scored on the day. Samantha Galler (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield), Kendra Nolan (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township)Caroline Maher (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), and Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connequot) all scored twice, while Emily Holland (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) and Julia Jette (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) each had one goal. Jette also chipped in three assists to finish with four points.

Gianna Guerra (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) captured her sixth win of the season with eight saves in goal. New Haven won a majority of the draw controls, 14-9. Raven Linton (Lawrenceville, N.J./Notre Dame) and Reh each had five, while Nolan had four. Linton also had a season-high five caused turnovers.

Nolan got the Chargers on the board in the first forty seconds of play, collecting the pass from Jette. The Blue and Gold would extend their lead to 2-0 on Nolan's second of the game. Pace would get on the board to cut into New Haven's lead about seven minutes into the game. Holland responded with a goal of her own to make it a two-goal lead for the Chargers. The Setters would then score two goals to tie the game.

Reh scored her first goal, taking advantage of a man up, free position opportunity. Pace tied the game once more at 4 apiece with just about five minutes left of the first half. Skelly scored her first goal of the game to give the Chargers the lead that they would not surrender the rest of the game. Jette scored for New Haven less than a minute later to create a two-goal advantage going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Reh netted her second of the day, making it a three-goal lead for the Chargers. After a Setters goal, New Haven reached its largest lead behind goals from Maher and Galler. Pace tried to cut down on the damage with another goal, but the Chargers answered with a four-goal run to put the game away. In that span, Maher, Galler, Reh, and Skelly were all able to find the back of the net. Pace would score the final three goals of the game, but the defense stood tall and did not allow Pace to complete a comeback.

The Chargers return home for an NE10 matchup against the American International Yellow Jackets on Saturday, April 6th. Opening draw at Kathy Zolad Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
