WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The New Haven field hockey team came up on the short end of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Franklin Pierce on Saturday in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.

Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) made 10 saves in net for the Chargers, while sophomore
Alexis Rider (Delran, N.J./Delran) tallied three shots and freshman
Anna Racine (Whiteford, Md./North Hartford) put a pair of shots on goal for New Haven.
The Ravens held a 19-8 edge in shots, putting 13 of them on goal. The game remained scoreless until late in the 25th minute when Allison Collins scored off a Jessica Greely assist. The Ravens made it a two-goal lead just over two minutes into the third quarter when Madison Gagnon put in a rebound from the right side of the net. FPU added another insurance goal at the 41:41 mark when Feline van Doorn found the back of the net for the 3-0 lead.
The same two teams will meet again tomorrow at noon for a non-conference matchup at DellaCamera Stadium.
