THE LEAD
Coming off of a key regional victory over Holy Family on a neutral court this past weekend, the New Haven volleyball team will open up conference play on Tuesday night when they travel north on I-91 to take on the American International Yellow Jackets.

SERIES HISTORY VS AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
New Haven and AIC meet for the 49th time in the history of the two programs with the Chargers holding a commanding 45-3 advantage in the all-time series. The Chargers opened up the series perfect through the first 30 meetings with the Yellow Jackets earning their first victory on October 4, 2003. New Haven followed that loss up by rattling off 10 straight victories against AIC while the Chargers have also won the last four meetings against their NE10 foe.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
The Chargers split a pair of neutral site matches over the weekend, falling to No. 5 Lewis before scoring a four-set victory over Holy Family in a key regional match-up. For the season, the Chargers are led by sophomore outside hitter Ruby Fera (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) who has compiled 91 kills in a balanced attack for New Haven that includes four players with 60+ kills on the season. Joining her in leading the way is senior Mallory Nowicki (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) (82 kills) and juniors Kali Greathead (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) (77) and Camille Garden (Atlanta, Ga./Landmark Christian) (60). Garden also leads the team with 27 bocks, fifth most in the NE10. Running all of New Haven offense is setters Angela Chan (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) and freshman Sammie Paguia (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) who have 234 and 71 assists, respectively. The pair are also among the leaders behind the service line with 13 and nine aces, respectively. Defensively, freshman libero Julia Guarniere (Milford, N.H./Milford) leads the Blue and Gold with 170 digs while Fera (113) and Chan (104) follow her.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
After splitting four matches at their own tournament, the International Volleyball Hall of Fame Yellow Jacket Invitational, AIC enters the 2019 NE10 opener with a 2-10 overall record. The two wins for the Yellow Jackets have come against Felician (3-0) and Assumption (3-2). For the season, AIC is led by junior outside hitter Andrea Serra who enters the week with 213 kills, an average of 4.35 per set. She also leads the way with a .224 attack percentage (84 errors, 577 attempts). Additionally, she has added 19 points on service aces and is second on the team with 152 digs. Following her in leading the team is graduate student Sarah Lowery who has dropped in 121 kills, the only other player with triple digits offensively.
