GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The New Haven Women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision on the road against Adelphi on Wednesday afternoon, falling to 3-3 on the season and in Northeast-10 conference play.
Freshman
Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) won the opening set of her third singles match 6-3 before her opponent forced a tie breaker and earned the victory with a third set tiebreak score of 10-5. Junior
Lilia Rodriguez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista) fought hard at second singles, dropping a 5-7, 2-6 decision.
With only four courts available at Adelphi, the fifth and sixth singles matches were played as eight game pro-match exhibitions with freshman
Katherine MacPhail (Park City, Utah/Judge Memorial Catholic) winning her battle with an 8-5 score at fifth singles.
The Chargers will remain on the road this weekend when they head to Manchester, N.H. for a date with Saint Anselm on Saturday, November 28. Opening serve against the Hawks is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
