Peduzzi Scores Game-Winner in the 76th Minute as Charged Shutout Saint Michael's 1-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The University of New Haven women's soccer team broke into the win column in NE10 action thanks to a second half goal from junior midfielder Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) which led to a 1-0 decision over Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 2-5-1 overall and 1-4-0 in NE10 play.

Peduzzi, whose goal came late in the 76th minute scored from the top of the box thanks to a pass from the right side from graduate midfielder Maaike Rahms (Waddinxveen, Netherlands). The goal for Peduzzi extends her team lead in scoring to nine points which has come on a team-high four goals and an assist. The helper for Rahms is her first point since joining the Blue and Gold for the start of this season.

Overall, New Haven took 10 shots on the game with five of those registered on goal, forcing Saint Anselm keeper Liz Vallenti to make four saves. Three of those saves came in the first forty five minutes while the Chargers would place two shots on target in the second half, one of which was saved, the other registering the game-winning tally.

Defensively, New Haven's Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) faced eight total shots on the day, however the Purple Knights only forced her into action on two occasions as she finished with a pair of saves, both of which came in the second half. The clean sheet for Davis is her first of the season while she now has two total for her career.

New Haven will return to West Haven for their next contest, hosting the Pace Setters for the final of six-straight NE10 contests. Opening kickoff between the Chargers and Setters is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2 at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
