Luzdali Ocasio (Davenport, Fla./New Hampton) helped the New Haven women's basketball team upset nationally-ranked No. 19 Bentley, 53-40 on Tuesday afternoon. The game was played in front of a packed house of West Haven fourth graders for the Chargers 8th annual Class at the Court game. Freshman

The win extends the Chargers' home court winning streak to 11 games and marks their first victory over a top-25 nationally-ranked opponent since topping No. 13 Stonehill in March 2015. It also marks the Chargers' first win over Bentley at Charger Gymnasium since December 1988.
Defensively, New Haven (12-3, 6-2 NE10) forced 20 turnovers, collected 11 steals, and outrebounded Bentley 34-29. The 40 points allowed by the Chargers is their fewest allowed in a game this season and the lowest scoring output for Bentley, who entered averaging just under 70 points per game.
The Chargers shot 39.6 percent from the floor, 7-for-17 from three-point range, and were 8-for-9 from the free throw line. New Haven held Bentley to 28.6 percent from the floor and a 24.1 percent clip from the arc.
QUOTES FROM THE COACH: Debbie Buff
"I think our scout was really on point and our team really followed it to a tee. Bentley has been a great program for years and they just came off a 101-point win, so we knew we couldn't take quick shots. We had to lock down on defense and I thought switching defenses really helped us at times."
"I just thought collectively our kids came in and gave us great minutes. Aurora was outstanding on the boards, (Ocasio) was our quarterback the whole game and ran our sets very well. Micah and Jasmine gave us great minutes and also played very well. I knew we would have to get back and play transition defense, control the boards, and not take bad shots."
"After their run to open the second half, we talked about controlling the ball better and making the sure pass. I'm really happy for this team, the program and the staff; to have this kind of win in our second year feels amazing."
