Women’s Soccer Puts Up One Goal at Le Moyne

The University of New Haven Women's soccer team fell 5-1 on their adventure in Syracuse. Their only goal was scored by Charlie Griffiths (Guilford, Conn./Guilford)

How it Happened
New Haven allowed Le Moyne to earn their second collegiate win of the season, and first win facing a conference team.

The Dolphins scored two goals in a two minute span in the middle of the first half of the game.

To retaliate the sophomore midfielder, Charlie Griffiths (Guilford, Conn./Guilford), earned her first collegiate goal since her freshmen season was eliminated due to the CoVID pandemic. Her kick in the 40th minute put the Chargers on the board 2-1 before heading into the half.

After the break, Le Moyne fronted three goals securing their 5-1 lead as the final buzzer went off.

The Blue and Gold tallied seven shots in the duration of 90 minutes, two less than their opponent. Griffiths and Madison Blonde (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) totaled five shots combined, and the two bench shots came from Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills)

What's Next?
New Haven will host their in-town rival, Southern Connecticut, this coming Wednesday. The Owls hold a 4-5-2 record going into Wednesday's game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Kathy Zolad Stadium on Oct. 20.
