Women's Tennis Ends Fall Campaign in 4-0 Loss in NE10 Quarterfinals

RINDGE, N.H. - The New Haven women's tennis team had its bid for a championship cut short this afternoon with a 4-0 loss at Franklin Pierce in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Championships. The Chargers will end the fall campaign at 6-7 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

After Franklin Pierce earned a win in the top doubles flight to open the match, the Chargers' No. 3 doubles pairing of juniors Alexa Orlando (Frederick, Md./Middletown) and Nicole Mika (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs) took a 6-3 win over the Ravens' Jillian Pagliuca and Zoe Asterio Correa. The home side would clinch a victory in the No. 2 contest to take the doubles point for the match.

In singles play, the Ravens would take straight-set victories at No. 4 and No. 2 singles to setup match point with the next singles win, which came at No. 3 singles, ending the match at 4-0 in favor of Franklin Pierce. The Ravens will go on to the semifinal round of the tournament, taking on Southern New Hampshire Friday.

The Blue and Gold will return to action in Spring 2022, stay tuned to NewHavenChargers.com this winter for the release of the spring slate of games.
