PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The New Haven women's tennis team took their first defeat of the spring season yesterday afternoon. The loss against the Big East institution set the Chargers back to a 6-8 record on the year. Left untouched is their conference record - that they can improve on this coming Saturday at home.
The best performance of the day came from the second doubles pair of Gaayatri Shankar (Kochi, India/TocH Public School) and Nicole Mika (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs). The pairing lost a close match 6-4.
Other notable performances came from the singles, with Anna Katz (Miami, Fla./Laurel Springs) rounding up three and four points in her competitions, along with Alexa Orlando (Frederick, Md./Middletown) and Karrim Carreras both scoring two and four points in their individual matchups.
