FULL NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The fall 2021 season would not be complete for the New Haven women's tennis team without some end of season accolades from the Northeast-10 Conference. As announced today by the league office, three Chargers earned spots on All-Conference teams for their performances throughout the regular season.
The Blue and Gold's top doubles pairing of graduate students Gaayatri Shankar (Kochi, India/TocH Public School) and Ivana Andric (Griesheim, Germany) earned a spot on the Second-Team All-Conference squad at No. 1 doubles. Teaming up for nine matches in the topflight, Shankar and Andric finished the regular season with a 7-1 record including six straight wins together to open the year.
The other award went to freshman Karim Carreras (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Bautista de Villa Morra) who was named to the All-Rookie team. In singles play Carreras collected six wins in 10 completed matches during her first season with the Blue and Gold, which included a streak where she won four out of five matches from Sept. 29 – Oct. 10. In the doubles rounds, she earned four victories, three of them coming in the Chargers' second flight.
