Chargers Drop Second Straight; 4-1 Loss to SHNU

WEST HAVEN, CONN. - The New Haven men's soccer team dropped their second straight game in a 4-1 loss to the Southern New Hampshire Patriots on Saturday, October 23 at Penmen Stadium.

Playing from behind for most of the contest, the Chargers were able to get on the board after an unassisted Pau Santanach (Barcelona, Spain/Collegi CreaNova) goal.

Santanach's goal, his 11th of the year, places him second in the conference in goals scored.

For only the second time this season, the Chargers were outshot by their opponents. The Patriots took 17 shots, eight of which were on goal.

New Haven ended with five shots (two on goal), with two shots coming from Santanach. Bruno Aguillon (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) also took a shot on goal.

The Chargers couldn't get much past SHNU goalkeeper Jackson Rivers, who won NE10 goalkeeper of the week.

Freshman goalkeeper Themis Kastoris (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasiet) ended the game with four saves, bringing his season total to 50. His 50 saves on the season are currently the fifth most in the NE10.

New Haven, now 5-5-2 (2-5-2), look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, October 27, as they host Assumption. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 4:00 PM at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
