Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Davis Climbs Career Charts on the Road

The University of New Haven women's soccer team concluded their road-play with a 4-1 loss to Assumption. Their regular season comes to a close next week when the Chargers return to action at Kathy Zolad Stadium Wednesday night.

How it Happened
The home team made their way on the scoreboard in the first two minutes of action off a penalty kick. The Greyhounds increased the Chargers deficit to two when Diana Bruggeman scored her second goal of the evening in the 18th minute.

In between Bruggeman's two kicks, Elizabeth Anderson (Lakeville, Mass./Apponequet Regional) attempted to iron out the opponents lead but was denied by goalkeeper Julia Walsh. It was Madison Blonde (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) who made the score 2-1 ten minutes before heading into the half. Blonde's goal Wednesday night marks her second of the season, with her first being New Haven's only goal at Franklin Pierce on Oct. 9.

Assumption added two more goals to their column after the break leaving the Blue and Gold to fill a three point lead in the final 20 minutes. With only two shots attempted in the second half New Haven was unable to do so.

With Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) defending the net for the Chargers, she rendered seven saves on 11 on-target shots which moves her up to third in all-time saves in existence of the women's soccer program in West Haven. She now holds 350 career saves in 52 games played.

What's Next?
When the Blue and Gold return to action on their own turf next Wednesday evening, they will be using this opportunity to honor the senior athletes that reign under head coach, Laura Duncan. The University will take recognition to the individual players who will be moving on from their career as contributors to the women's soccer program.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3 with the senior ceremony being held before kickoff.
