Only two on-target shots for New Haven made scoring difficult as they fell 3-0 to their Northeast 10 rival, Adelphi. The Chargers were outshot by their opponent 17-5.
How it Happened
The Panthers maintained possession up until the 15th minute when Dakota Cimetta (Coral Springs, Fla./J.P. Taravella) tried to find the top right of the goal. Just nearly ten minutes following Cimetta's attempt, Gabriela Garcia-Perez (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) found room in the bottom right corner of the net, but Adelphi goalkeeper Sarah Hofmeier was able to prevent a 1-0 lead for the Chargers.Â
Just 15 minutes before the halftime buzzer sounded, Adelphi snuck one past Davis solidifying a one-goal advantage over the Blue and Gold.Â
Eight minutes into the second half, New Haven had back-to-back shot attempts from Macy Litalien (Fitchburg, Mass./Oakmont Regional) and Charlie Griffiths (Guilford, Conn./Guilford), however Litalien's went above the net.Â
In the 60th minute Adelphi substituted Carly Issing to replace Ashley Borriello. Issing was on the field for a little under two minutes and managed to find net.Â
The Panther tied the knot 16 minutes before the end of regulation when another kick got past Davis.Â
Davis made a total of eight saves, the Chargers as a team had a single save. This is the third time this season Davis has stopped eight shots, the other two occurrences were their two most recent games at Pace and versus Saint Michael's. Â
What's Next?
The Chargers will travel to Franklin Pierce in New Hampshire this Saturday to take on the Ravens in their own territory. This matchup will be the last conference game before New Haven hosts Holy Family who is a part of the CACC.
