NEW HAVEN, CONN. -Â The New Haven men's soccer team was once again held to zero points in a 1-0 loss to crosstown rival Southern Connecticut on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Jess Dow Field.
The Chargers finished the match outshooting the Owls, 17-9 (6-6 on goal), with nine shot attempts in the second half.
Pau Santanach (Barcelona, Spain/Collegi CreaNova) led the team in shots with four, one of which was on goal.
Adam Lindstrom (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet) and
Francisco Guedes (Lisbon, Portugal/Maristas de Carcavelos)Â had three shots a piece, each with one on goal.
The lone run was scored 37 minutes into the game by Owl's defenseman Santiago Slapak.
Chargers struggled to capitalize on opportunities as Owl's goalkeeper Bailey Bassett shut them down.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Lamb (Prospect, Conn./Woodland Regional) started in goal but split time with
Themis Kastoris (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasiet), the later raking up three saves.
New Haven, now 5-3-1 (2-3-1), falls to seventh in the conference standings as they look to get ignite their offense in Vermont against the Saint Michael's Purple Knights (5-5). Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Oct. 16 at Duffy Field.
