Women's Lacrosse Falls to No. 3/3 Le Moyne Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A trio of Chargers reached the back of the net Saturday as No. 15/RV women's lacrosse fell to undefeated No. 3/3 Le Moyne College 14-4.

THE LEADERS
Senior Emily Holland (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) led the New Haven offense with a pair of goals in the second half, both from free-position opportunities. Junior Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) and freshman Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier) each provided a single score as well. Assisting on a pair of Charger goals were Holland and junior Julia Astram (Milford, Conn./Milford)

On the defensive end, freshman Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) got her second start of the season between the pipes for the Blue and Gold, stopping eight shots on the day. In the draw circle, Levitt led the way with three controls, followed by sophomore Annie Acquavita (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) and graduate student Raven Linton (Lawrenceville, N.J./Notre Dame) who each corralled a pair.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was dominated by the home side, as Le Moyne scored eight goals, led by Jessica Meneilly who notched a hat trick in the opening 20 minutes. The Chargers were held to just three shots in the opening period, failing to reach the back of the net before the break.

New Haven found its footing in the second half, and after giving up a goal to start, scoring three of the next four goals, starting and ending with a free-position score by Holland, with Skelly's goal packaged in between.

Le Moyne would add two more to its total with back-to-back goals by Sydney Meagher, followed by Levitt's goal off the assist from Astram. The Dolphins would close the day with two more, the latter being the final play of the game as the third ranked team in the country sweeps the season series.
