Women's Lacrosse Drops Senior Day Match with Adelphi 18-6

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Junior attack Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) notched her fourth hat trick of the season as No. 19 women's lacrosse fell to No. 12/14 Adelphi University 18-6 on Saturday afternoon.

THE LEADERS
Skelly's three goals for the Chargers was a team high, as she was followed by senior Emily Holland (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) who scored two, and freshman Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier) who notched a single goal. On defense, Levitt and graduate Raven Linton (Lawrenceville, N.J./Notre Dame) led the draw control department, each corralling five, followed by Skelly with three. Linton also caused three turnovers and led the way with three ground balls for her side.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The visitors would open the scoring just under a minute into play with a goal from sophomore Kristina Kallansrude off an assist from graduate student Kole Pollack. The Panthers would break out to a 8-0 lead before Skelly scored her first of the game with 12:25 to play in the half off a feed from junior Julia Astram (Milford, Conn./Milford).

After Adelphi scored a pair from sophomore Kerrin Heuser and Pollack, Levitt scored her 12th goal of the season from a free position attempt. The Panthers would tack on three more late in the period, and go into halftime with a 13-2 advantage.

Out of the intermission, Adelphi would score twice in the opening 10 minutes before Skelly notched her second of the game from a free position. The two sides would go back and forth in the final 15 minutes of the second half, with a third from Skelly and a pair from Holland, as the Chargers split the season series with the Panthers.
