WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior outside Emily Barry (Freeport, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) dropped a game-high 12 kills as the New Haven women's volleyball team took a straight set victory over Post in the finale of the Eagles Invitational Tournament. With a win over Bridgeport yesterday, the Blue and Gold finish the tourney 2-1, bringing the season record to 3-4.
Barry's 12 kills gives her 91 for the season, one shy of the Northeast-10 Conference lead. She also led a group of three Chargers to finish with double digit kills, as senior middle Asiya Way (Denver, Colo./Denver East) and freshman outside Macy Brown (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) dropped ten hammers each. Freshman setter Sophia Leon-Tabor (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) served up 33 of the 35 New Haven assists on the evening, bring her totals to 287 (9.90/set) through the first two weeks of the season, with her assists per set total the fifth highest in the conference.
On defense, sophomore outside Rilee Jessee (Edinburgh, Ind,/Columbus East) finished as the only Charger in double figures with 20 digs, bringing her to 135 (4.66/set) this season, which is the third-most digs in the conference and the fourth-highest average per set. She finished just ahead of Barry and Brown who each finished with nine.

New Haven heads back on the road for the third and final tournament of the 2021 campaign, traveling to New York for the Roberts Wesleyan College Tournament. The Chargers kick off play Friday against Daeman at 2:00 p.m. before taking on the host Red Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Saturday the Blue and Gold take on Stonehill at 11:00 a.m. right before they battle D'Youville at 1:15 p.m. to wrap up the tournament.
