PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – For the second straight game senior Reilly Bialko (Shickshinny, Pa./Northwest Area) has scored the first goal of the game for the New Haven Field Hockey team, this time around the only goal as the Chargers earned their first road victory of the season at Pace 1-0. The win improves the Blue and Gold to 2-2 overall and keeps them unbeaten in Northeast-10 play at 2-0.
The goal for Bialko came late in the second quarter as she connected on a pass from Kat Trammel (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) to score what would amount to be the game-winning tally. The score for the midfielder is her second of the season, second most on the team behind Alexis Rider's (Delran, N.J./Delran) team-high three goals.
In addition to the goal from Bialko it was the strong play of graduate goalkeeper Keira Integlia (Branford, Conn./Branford) which earned the second straight shutout as she doubled her season total in saves with eight against the Setters. Integlia saw her biggest challenges from Pace come in the third quarter as the Setters offense looked to adjust from recording just two first half shots by scattering seven in the third quarter alone. Of those seven shots, six required the handy work of Integlia. She also added a single save in the first quarter and one more in the fourth.
The clean-sheet for New Haven's defense is the second of the season, the most by the Chargers in the four-year history of the program.
Overall, New Haven trailed Pace in total shots by an 11-4 margin, while leading the way in penalty corners with a 6-5 advantage, including holding the Setters without one in the first 30 minutes of the game.
New Haven returns to action in just over 24 hours when they will play host to the No. 2 team in the country, the West Chester Golden Rams. Head coach Kelsi Lykens alma mater (class of 2014), West Chester will make their first ever appearance against New Haven with the game scheduled for a 6:15 p.m. start due to the anticipation of inclement weather in the area.
