The University of New Haven Women's soccer team dropped their second consecutive loss to Bentley University on Wednesday night. They now stand 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
How it Happened
The Chargers handed the Falcons their first win of the season at Kathy Zolad Stadium. The lone goal came early in the 14th minute of play when Dana Goulet slipped one to the lower right of the net, unable to be saved by Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin).
Goulet has scored all of Bentley's goals so far this season, making this her third in three games. This was the first game for the Falcon's that ended in 90 minutes, their previous three were double-overtime thrillers that did not end to their advantage.
On the offensive end, the Blue and Gold were unable to show aggression only promoting three shots in the entirety of the game. Bentley offered 15, however only one slipped past Davis.
Of these three shots, two came from Dakota Cimetta (Coral Springs, Fla./J.P. Taravella) and one attempt from Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills).
After halftime, Bentley's defense halted any opportunity New Haven had to charge at Kat Hassapis in the goal. The clock ran down and the Charger's left scoreless, giving Bentley their first victory.
What's Next?
The Chargers return to action Saturday, Sept. 18 when Kathy Zolad Stadium hosts yet another NE10 rival, No. 19 Southern New Hampshire. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
