How it Happened
After suffering four consecutive defeats, the University of New Haven came over the top in the 81st minute to account for the only goal on the score board. Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) found the pass from Gabriela Garcia-Perez (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and put one past the low center in the 81st minute.
The Chargers started the first half with only three shots, while their opponent attempted double. Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) tallied a total of seven saves through her 90 minutes backing the goal.
Forward Dakota Cimetta (Coral Springs, Fla./J.P. Taravella) tried to set up in the 38th minute with a kick low and to the right, but was declined by Saint Michael's goalkeeper Katie Escobedo.
Both teams added a yellow card to their possession in the second half. New Haven's Cimetta drew hers in the 65th minute. Just minutes later Purple Knight Claire Williams caused Kaitlyn Price (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity Regional) to tumble into the fencing when trying to regain possession for New Haven.
Fleming's goal was her second career-goal, her previous came earlier in September when the Blue and Gold faced Bloomfield.
New Haven's four-game cold spell came to a close on their home turf, earning their first NE10 victory of the season.
