After a victory on their own turf against St. Michael's, New Haven looked to add another win to their column. However, an early goal from the Setters set up an offense that could not be stopped.
How It Happened
20 minutes before halftime, the Charges already gave up three goals to the Setters. The first was scored by Amber Probasco, marking her third goal of the season. Probasco scored less than a minute into play, and was followed by two goals for Pace in the 18th and 25th minute.
At the half New Haven only attempted three less shots than their opponent (9-6) Wednesday evening. Shot attempts have remained a struggle for New Haven this season, the last time they kicked more than their opponent was in their victory over Bloomfield early on in the season. Despite three kicks getting past Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) in the first, she saved five of Pace's attempts.
New Haven's offensive efforts were enlarged in the second 45-minute segment, however they still came up short. In the second half the Chargers had seven shots toward the net, but the final score remained a repeat of last seasons episode versus Pace, 4-0.
Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) and Meghan Dellea (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) shared the team-high of three shots for the night. Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), Dakota Cimetta (Coral Springs, Fla./J.P. Taravella), and Emily Mendel (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) accounted for two each.
What's Next?
The Chargers return home and don't see the playing field again until next Tuesday. Adelphi will come to Kathy Zolad Stadium for New Haven's seventh-straight conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Oct. 5.
