WALTHAM, Mass. - Fueled by four wins in singles play the New Haven women's tennis team took down Bentley 5-2 Wednesday afternoon. Helping lead the Chargers to victory was sophomore Anna Katz (Miami, Fla./Laurel Springs) who earned her second victory of the year with a straight set win, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. The Blue and Gold improve to 3-2 this season with all five matches part of the Northeast-10 Conference slate of games.
Opening doubles with the usual No. 1 graduate duo of Ivana Andric (Griesheim, Germany) and Gaayatri Shankar (Kochi, India/TocH Public School), the two earned a win over the Falcons' Adriana Hiraldo and Maria Mello 6-2. New Haven's No. 3 pairing of junior Alexa Orlando (Frederick, Md./Middletown) and freshman Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla./Broward Virtual School) took down Bentley's Anna Lang and Remy LaSage 7-6 to clinch the double point for the Chargers.
Moving to singles play, Andric picked up her team-high fourth win of the season at the No. 1 spot with a straight set victory 6-3, 6-0 over Makena Romagnano. Freshman Karim Carreras (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Bautista de Villa Morra) notched her second solo win of the year 7-6, 6-3 with a 7-3 win in the first set tiebreaker at No. singles. At the No. 3 position, junior Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) moved to an undefeated 4-0 record in singles contests with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Falcons' Alessa Matudy, which was followed by Katz win at No. 5 singles.

The Blue and Gold return to action Friday when they return to the New Haven Tennis Courts, hosting Saint Thomas Aquinas. First serve between the Chargers and Spartans is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
