The Chargers scoring leader, Annie Acquavita (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire), put four behind the net. But her offensive output was not enough as New Haven suffered their first loss of the season.
How it Happened
The Panthers started off by setting New Haven back by six, holding the Chargers without a goal until Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier) scored her fourth goal of the season.
Acquavita was next to add to the Chargers score with an unassisted goal and 10:17 remaining until half time. Acquavita and Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) both went on to score again in the second quarter but Adelphi tallied five goals bringing the score to 11-4 at the break.
The Panthers halted New Haven from scoring at all in the third quarter, adding five of their own extending the Chargers deficit to 12 goals.
Gianna Bifulco, one of three Panthers with four goals in total, shot goals back to back to start the final quarter of action. Kerrin Heuser and Christina Mccabe were the other two players leading Adelphi in scoring.
In attempt to cut their 15 goal differential, Acquavita slipped two shots past the goal keeper ending the game 19-6 in favor of the No. 3 Adelphi Panthers.
