Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

NE10 Rookie of the Week Scores Four in Loss to the Setters

For three games straight, New Haven has faced nationally ranked opponents. They started with a huge upset on the road at No. 5 Le Moyne. When they returned home to Kathy Zolad Stadium, they fell both to No. 18 Stonehill and No. 14 Pace.

How it Happened
Kayla Conway put the Setters on the board to start things off in the first quarter off of a free position attempt. After going tit-for-tat with Cameryn Antler (Hebron, Conn./Mercy) and Mary Rishmany (Tiverton, R.I./Bishop Stang), who scored two goals back-to-back, the Chargers stole the lead 3-2. Pace scored two goals with less than three minutes remaining in the first quarter but Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) saved the day, scoring unassisted with 0:04 left tying the score 4-4.

Pace out-scored New Haven 5-3 in the second quarter making the score 9-7 entering halftime. The Setters executed ten shots towards Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), the highest of either team in a single quarter.

In the third quarter New Haven was able to add two goals to their seven, but with an added two goals for Pace as well, the Setters still remained in front. Both scored by the Blue and Gold came off the stick of Bailey, who was recently named Rookie of the Week. She led the Chargers in scoring for the evening with four goals on six shots.

Charger defense started to unravel as the New Haven team was outscored 9-1 in the final 15 minutes. All nine of the Setters shots were on-target towards the net and all nine went past Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford). Pace outdid the Chargers 8-3 on draw controls and 4-2 on clears.

Scoring the final, and lone goal, in the fourth quarter for the Chargers was Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier). This was her tenth goal of the season and she scored man-up on a free position attempt.
