Seven Chargers Follow Up Successful Spring Seasons with All-Academic Honors

FULL NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE

MANSFIELD, Mass. –
As announced by the Northeast-10 Conference on Wednesday, seven University of New Haven spring student-athletes showcased their success on the field and track with success in the classroom, all earning NE10 Academic All-Conference accolades.

Among the Chargers honored were four student-athletes who add this accolade to CoSIDA Academic All-District honors: juniors Andrew Bianco and Tyler Wells from baseball and junior Neva Bostic and senior Kristen Washington from women's outdoor track and field. One other team saw a pair of honorees, women's lacrosse who was represented by senior Marina Skelly and junior Laura Agbayani. Rounding out the spring accolades was senior shortstop Mya Case from softball.

All four teams combined to finish a strong spring for the Blue and Gold with baseball, softball and women's lacrosse combining for 52 wins on the field, while Bostic earned NE10 title honors the javelin throw with a school record mark and Washington capped off the track & field season as the first women's athlete to earn a bid to the NCAA Division II Championship since 2018, earning that honor in the triple jump.

In addition to that success, five of the six Chargers who were honored with this All-Academic distinction were also named to NE10 All-Conference teams, while Agbayani also earned All-Region distinction from the IWLCA.

To be eligible for Academic All-Conference distinction, a student-athlete must have started in at least half, or played in at least two-third of the team's competitions as a significant contributor. In addition, all nominees must have achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale. Each NE10 institution had at least two student-athletes named to Academic All-Conference teams from this past spring, while the conference honored 130 athletes across 10 spring sports.
