THE LEAD
Coming off of a season-opening victory, the New Haven women's soccer team looks to build on the momentum when they return to a neutral field for the second straight match and face Georgian Court at Pace Stadium. Kick off on Sunday is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY VS GEORGIAN COURT
In a series that dates back to the 2007 season, the Chargers hold a 7-2 overall record against the Lions. New Haven opened up the series winning the first three matchups, all by a combined 11-2 score. The first Georgian Court victory came in 2014, the first meeting after a five-year hiatus in the series. That Georgian Court win began a streak of yearly meetings that has continues since that date, with the exception of the 2016 season. Last season, New Haven took a 1-0 decision on their home field against the Lions, the fourth win in the last five meetings.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (1-0, 0-0 NE10)
New Haven returns to the field for the second time in three days looking to remain unbeaten following a 2-1 win over Post on Friday evening. Both goals on Friday against the Eagles came from the junior class with Dakota Cimetta (Coral Springs, Fla./J.P. Taravella) and Elizabeth Anderson (Lakeville, Mass./Apponequet Regional) notching the tallies. Cimetta also put up a goal against Post last season, while the score for Anderson was her first career goal. Two other players also got in on the point collection with freshman Riley Drosopoulos (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) and graduate student Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) adding the assists on the goals against Post. In net, the Chargers relied on graduate transfer Amanda McQuillan (Meath, Ireland/) who was forced into action just twice on Friday. McQuillan comes to West Haven from Central Connecticut where she wrapped up her time in New Britain with a 1.09 goals-against-average, eight shutouts and 64 saves last season.

SCOUTING THE LIONS (0-0-1, 0-0 CACC)
A pair of early penalty kick conversions for the Lions in their opening game on Friday didn't hold up as Georgian Court closed out its season opener in a 2-2 stalemate against Pace. Two different Lions converted the PK attempts with seniors Aliya Canfield and Emily Clayton each notching their first goals of the season. Between the pipes for the Lions was returning starter Alyssa Dias who finished with seven saves, while facing 19 total shots from the Setters. Georgian Court is coming off of a 2021 season where they finished 6-12-1 overall and 5-6 in the CACC advancing to the CACC Championship semifinals before seeing their season come to an end. The Lions lost their top two scorers from a year ago, with Dias the leading returner for Georgian Court after racking up 98 saves in 2021.

THE SCHEDULE
The New Haven women's soccer team will play an 18-game schedule in 2022 with half of those games to take place at the friendly confines of Kathy Zolad Stadium. In addition to the two opening neutral site games at Pace, the Charges will play three more non-conference games before opening league play against American International on Saturday, September 10. The three non-conference tests before league action includes a trip to Holy Family and home games against STAC and Bloomfield. The 2022 NE10 schedule will consist of 12 games, with the top eight teams among the 13 league squads, advancing to the NE10 Championship which is scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 30.

UP NEXT
The Chargers will return to the pitch once more in the opening month of the season when they travel for the third straight game, this time heading to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, where they will take on the Holy Family Tigers on Wednesday, August 31. Opening kickoff against the Tigers is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Tiger Field.
