Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Georgian Court, Evens Record at 1-1

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing on a neutral field for the second-straight game, the University of New Haven women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Georgian Court on Saturday, evening its record at 1-1 overall on the season.

The Lions broke a scoreless drought at the 57 minute mark with Izzy Hernandez notching the only mark on the scoreboard during the 90 minute match. Overall, New Haven registered seven shots compared to the Lions 10, with three of the Blue and Gold's shots marked on goal and forcing Georgian Court keeper, Alyssa Dias, into action.

On the flip side, graduate transfer goalkeeper Amanda McQuillian was tested four times, collecting a hat trick of saves in her second game between the pipes for the Blue and Gold. Leading the Chargers offense on the day was sophomore Macy Litalien (Fitchburg, Mass./Oakmont Regional) who drilled for of the Chargers shots, with the remaining three coming from different players.

The Chargers will return to the pitch once more in the opening month of the season when they travel for the third straight game, this time heading to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, where they will take on the Holy Family Tigers on Wednesday, August 31. Opening kickoff against the Tigers is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Tiger Field.
