Women’s Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In its third straight game away from the friendly confines of Kathy Zolad Stadium, the New Haven women's soccer team played to a 0-0 stalemate against Holy Family on Wednesday evening at Tiger Field. Under the newest rule changes for all divisions of soccer, the Chargers and Tigers played to a full 90 minutes without playing overtime, which will not be used until the postseason.

New Haven led the way in the offensive battle, outshooting the Tigers 19-13 with six of those 19 shots on target and forcing the Tigers keeper, Briana Pudlo to make six saves. On the flip side, Chargers graduate student keeper Amanda McQuillan (Meath, Ireland/) finished her 90 minutes of action with a pair of saves as 11 of the Tigers shots were wide of the net.

The Chargers six on target shots came from five different players with Macy Litalien (Fitchburg, Mass./Oakmont Regional) the lone Blue and Gold player to register a pair. Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), Sophie Eskenas (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury Memorial) and a pair of freshman; Caitlyn Toom (Milford, N.H./Brewster Academy), Ashlee Crumrine (Bristol, Conn./Bristol) all finished with one shot on goal.

Next time they take the field, the Chargers will finally make their 2022 debut on Saturday afternoon as part of a day-night doubleheader with the men's team. New Haven will welcome Saint Thomas Aquinas to town for its home opener with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m. at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
