THE LEAD
The New Haven women's soccer team heads on the road for the first time in conference play when they head to Garden City, N.Y. for a date with the Adelphi Panthers on Tuesday. Opening kickoff against Adelphi is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Motamed Field on the Long Island campus.
SERIES HISTORY VS ADELPHI
In a series that dates back to the 1998 season, the Panthers hold a 15-6-4 overall record against New Haven, including victories in the last six meetings. Prior to the current streak, the Chargers had wone five of the previous six meetings, including four by way of a shutout. New Haven also won the initial meeting in the series, defeating the then ranked No. 4 Panthers 2-1 in overtime.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (2-1-1, 0-1 NE10)
New Haven is looking for its first victory since a September 3 win over STAC, with a 0-0 tie against Bloomfield and a 2-0 loss to AIC in the conference opener the two games since that victory. Overall for the season, the Chargers have scored five goals from five different goal scorers, with the two most important coming from sophomore Eilish Linnehan and junior Elizabeth Anderson (Lakeville, Mass./Apponequet Regional) as they each scored a game-winning goal. Among all the goal scorers, Linnehan and Myers have added a third point to their tally, each notching an assist. In goal, graduate transfer goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan has played every minute between the pipes making 19 saves on the season and finishing a pair of games in shutout fashion. McQuillan comes to West Haven from Central Connecticut where she wrapped up her time in New Britain with a 1.09 goals-against-average, eight shutouts and 64 saves last season.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS (3-2, 1-0 NE10)
Adelphi enters the midweek battle with a 3-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play following a 5-1 win over Assumption this past Saturday. Tuesday's game also serves as the home opener for the Panthers who spent their first five games on the road. For the season, nine different Adelphi players have found the back of the net with the Panthers outscoring their opponents 16-5 in the first five games of the season. Leading all scorers on the year is rookie Madison Apicella who has scored three goals and added four assists for 10 points. In goal, the Panthers have relied on a pair of keepers on the season, with graduate student Krista Allscio starting all five games and playing the majority of the minutes. To date, she has 15 saves to her credit with out shutout.
THE SCHEDULE
The New Haven women's soccer team will play an 18-game schedule in 2022 with half of those games to take place at the friendly confines of Kathy Zolad Stadium. In addition to the two opening neutral site games at Pace, the Charges will play three more non-conference games before opening league play against American International on Saturday, September 10. The three non-conference tests before league action includes a trip to Holy Family and home games against STAC and Bloomfield. The 2022 NE10 schedule will consist of 12 games, with the top eight teams among the 13 league squads, advancing to the NE10 Championship which is scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 30.

The Chargers remain on the road for their next game, this time heading north to Waltham, Mass. to take on the Bentley Falcons on Saturday, September 17 with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Bentley Soccer Field.
