Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Road Decision at Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – In its second straight road conference game, the New Haven women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Bentley, falling to 2-4-2 overall and 0-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Bentley opened up the scoring nearly 40 minutes into the action to break the scoreless draw with Gabby Vachon netting what would go down as the game-winning goal. The Falcons added two more second half goals to pull the game out of reach and secure the home victory.

Overall, New Haven trailed in the shot column with Bentley holding a 16-13 advantage, however seven of those shots were marked on goal. On the flip side, Chargers keeper Amanda McQuillan (Meath, Ireland/) finished with six saves, five of which came in the second half.

All seven of the Chargers shots that found their way into the hands of the Falcons keeper came from different players. Leading the threat for the Blue and Gold overall was Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) who registered three total shots, one of which was marked on goal. Two other players also notched a pair of shots, graduate student Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) and freshman Riley Drosopolous.

New Haven will return to its West Haven home for its next two games, with the first on the docket a visit from the Pace Setters on Wednesday, September 21. The afternoon battle is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start at Kathy Zolad Stadium. Fans unable to make it to the game can catch all the action live on the Charger Sports Network, part of NE10 NOW.
