THE LEAD
Looking for its third straight win on its home turf, the New Haven women's soccer team returns to Kathy Zolad Stadium on Saturday for the front end of a doubleheader with the men's team as they welcome the Le Moyne Dolphins to town. Opening kickoff against the Dolphins is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY VS LE MOYNE
New Haven and Le Moyne have met 16 times prior to Saturday with the all-time series slightly in favor of the Dolphins at 6-9-1 overall. The series has very much been a back-and-forth battle between the two squads with the Dolphins winning the most recent match-up 5-1 last season in Syracuse. Prior to the CoVID-19 break, New Haven was on the front end of the meeting with a 5-2 decision in their favor.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (4-5-2, 2-4 NE10)
New Haven enters Saturday's game winners of back-to-back home games, thanks largely in part due to senior Madison Blonde (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) who has scored at least one goal in each of the last three games, including the game-winner in the two home wins over Saint Anselm and Pace. In the win over Pace, the Chargers also were benefited by a pair of goals from sophomore Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills). Combined the pair make up the top two scorers on the team, with Blonde leading the way with 11 points on five goals and an assist. Fleming follows with two goals and an assist for five points, while four other players have all found the back of the net. In goal, graduate transfer goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan has played every minute between the pipes making 50 saves on the season and finishing a pair of games in shutout fashion. McQuillan comes to West Haven from Central Connecticut where she wrapped up her time in New Britain with a 1.09 goals-against-average, eight shutouts and 64 saves last season.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS (3-4-2, 1-4-1 NE10)
Le Moyne enters Saturday's game winners of their last which came against No. 25 Franklin Pierce, taking a 3-1 decision of the Ravens in Syracuse. Prior to that win, the Dolphins had gone winless in their previous five games, only one of which ended in a tie and all coming in NE10 conference action. In addition to the win over Franklin Pierce, the Dolphins also have victories over Chestnut Hill and Lake Erie in non-conference play. For the season, eight different Dolphins players have found the back of the net, all adding up to 10 goals scored through their nine games. Leading all of those goal scorers is the only player with multiple scores on the season, Hildur Unnarsdottir who has amassed eight points on three goals and a pair of assists. In goal, Le Moyne has relied on a single goal keeper who has played all 810 minutes, with Allison Moreau making 44 saves on the year.

HONOR ROLL
After scoring three goals, including two game-winners and adding an assist, senior forward Madison Blonde (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) not only led her team to a pair of NE10 victories, but she also earned herself Northeast-10 Player of the Week honors, the first such honor of her career. Blonde opened up her seven-point week with a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over Pace. The senior striker scored the equalizer and the game-winner which came with less than three minutes remaining against the Setters, earning her team its first NE10 win of the season. She followed that up with the game-winning goal with 15 minutes to play in another come-from-behind victory against Saint Anselm. Earlier in that game, she also assisted on the first of two goals from sophomore Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills). For the season, Blonde leads the team with four goals and an assist for nine points.

THE SCHEDULE
The New Haven women's soccer team will play an 18-game schedule in 2022 with half of those games to take place at the friendly confines of Kathy Zolad Stadium. In addition to the two opening neutral site games at Pace, the Charges will play three more non-conference games before opening league play against American International on Saturday, September 10. The three non-conference tests before league action includes a trip to Holy Family and home games against STAC and Bloomfield. The 2022 NE10 schedule will consist of 12 games, with the top eight teams among the 13 league squads, advancing to the NE10 Championship which is scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 30.

UP NEXT
New Haven will close out its series of four home games over a five-game stretch with Assumption next to visit West Haven on Saturday, October 8. Following the week off from game action, the Chargers will take the field against the Greyhounds under the lights at Kathy Zolad Stadium with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. All of the action will be available live online on the Charger Sports Network, part of NE10 NOW.
