West Haven, Conn. - The New Haven field hockey team will look to split their series of games in Pennsylvania following a 3-0 loss to Bloomsburg to open up the trip on Friday afternoon.
Despite the loss, the Chargers held strong leading in both shots and corners throughout the game's entirety. The Chargers offense challenged Huskies goalkeeper Abby Shaffer, placing six out of their nine shots on goal.
Graduate student Taylor Geaglone (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) had a total of four shots, two of which were on goal, followed by Sophie Schreck (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) tallying two shots, one on goal. Junior Audrey Larson (Gilroy, Calif./Gilroy) added two shots on goal, followed by Freshman Erin Smith (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) with one.
The Chargers defense held strong keeping the game scoreless for the first fifteen minutes of the game, until Bloomsburg broke the stalemate in the 22nd minute with a goal by Bloomsburg's Bella Culp, who tipped in a ball from outside of the circle for the first goal of the game.
The Chargers will conclude their weekend road trip with a matchup on Sunday, September 11th when they head to West Chester to take on the Golden Rams.
