WORCESTER, Mass. – After being at home the University of New Haven Women's soccer team returned to the road and to conference play taking on the Greyhounds of Assumption University for a Sunday afternoon matchup. 

The Greyhounds pressured New Havens back line early, but the blue and gold defended well and turned the danger away. The Chargers forwards got looks but it was the Greyhounds that struck first scoring off a penalty to take the lead. Trailing New Haven quickly responded as two minutes after Assumptions goal, Alida Bates (/) connected with Emma Mitchell (Edinburgh, Scotland/Liberton) who finished her first career goal for the blue and gold leveling the match at one and changing the tides. The Chargers would continue to battle through the half but it was the Greyhounds that broke through again to regain the lead. The Greyhounds would score a pair in the second half and would hold that scoreline until the final whistle taking the match 4-1. Mitchell finished her first career goal to put New Haven on the board as Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) finished with ten saves on 14 shots.

New Haven returns home for a pair of conference matches during the week as next up for the blue and gold is a meeting with the Purple Knights of Saint Michaels on Wednesday October 18.
