WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Returning home to Kathy Zolad Stadium the University of New Haven women's soccer team hosted the Purple Knights of Saint Michaels College in a mid-week conference match and apart of their pair of matches for the week.
Both teams opened up playing direct and testing each others defense but neither team got a strong look at either keeper. In the 20 minute the Purple Knights attacked the wing and a cross were able to beat Daley taking the early lead. New Haven looked to counter but a late corner by the Purple Knights in the first half led to a second goal heading into the break. With a lineup with speed outside New Haven looked to attack the wings, but were not able to capitalize. Angelina Schilling (Sewell, N.J./Deptford Township) put a dangerous header on net but was deflected by the Purple Knight defenders keeping the score. Before the final whistle Saint Michaels was able to net a third goal taking the final 3-0. Daley finished with 11 saves as New Haven put six shots on net in the game.
New Haven returns home with a meeting against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire on Saturday October 21. Kick-off from Kathy Zolad Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m on the Charger Sports Network and NE10 Now and all updates, schedules, and post-game recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
