Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Morgan McCarty

Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 to Providence

West Haven, C.T.- The New Haven women's tennis team took their second defeat of the spring season from Division I opponents. The loss against the Big East institution put the Chargers at a 10-7 record.

The best performance of the day came from the doubles matches, where the Chargers dominated to win the doubles point. The doubles pair of Valentinna Ferrarini (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Karim Carreras (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Bautista de Villa Morra) put up a 6-4 win in their match and Lucia Placidi (Melbourne, Australia/Distance Education Centre Victoria) and Alyssa Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla./HB Plant) took a 6-1 win, to solidify the point for New Haven.

New Haven was able to grab one win in the singles, that win coming from the third single match played by Alyssa Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla./HB Plant). Notable effort from Karim Carreras (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Bautista de Villa Morra) and Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta), both forcing the matches to a third round to determine the point, but sadly coming up short in the last round.
